Our Hemp CBD Company
In the 1980’s, our co-founders hometown of Marion County, Kentucky, became known for the largest domestic marijuana syndicate in American history. When he was just a kid, 70 men from Kentucky were arrested with what was rumored to be over 200 tons of cannabis. As none of them would talk, they became known as the Cornbread Mafia. When Jim Higdon decided to write the true crime story of his hometown, in his research and clandestine meetings he learned what folks have known here for centuries- Kentucky is the best place in the US to grow cannabis.
Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, Cornbread Hemp is the #1 CBD company in the Bluegrass State. Our Kentucky hemp roots date back to 1775, when the first hemp plant was harvested in Springfield, Kentucky. Today, our organic hemp is grown in Lexington, Kentucky, a little more than 60 miles from our facility in Louisville.
Cornbread Hemp products are sold in nearly over 350 health food stores, wellness centers, and pharmacies nationwide. Our USDA organic CBD oils are the most potent cannabis products to ever be certified organic by the federal government. We pride ourselves on partnering with local, trusted retailers that support our mission of getting comfortable with cannabis.
Cornbread Hemp was founded by two first cousins, Eric Zipperle and Jim Higdon, who are both native Kentuckians.

Our Full Spectrum Hemp Products
Full spectrum hemp products contain all the naturally occurring goodness of the cannabis plant- major and minor cannabinoids (including CBD and THC), terpenes, flavonoids, and other natural plant compounds. We believe that nature knows best, so we never alter the CBD to THC ratio for our full spectrum hemp supplementation.
Frankly, because it is the right thing to do. Cornbread Hemp is dedicated to offering the highest quality hemp products available. This all starts with our USDA organic hemp flowers. Hemp is a bioaccumulator, which means it extracts heavy metals, pesticides, and other undesirables from the soil and sequesters more CO2 than any other plant. All of that would be included in the eventual extract, which we definitely do not want.
When focused on full spectrum hemp supplementation, cannabinoids (like CBD and THC) and terpenes live in the flower of the hemp plant, not the stems, stalk, leaves, seeds, or other plant parts. Flower-Only™ means that the flowers of the hemp plant have been separated from the rest of the plant parts, and we only use the flowers to make our products, instead of using the whole plant. The result is a higher quality full spectrum CBD extract that is free of unnecessary plant matter.
We are a Kentucky Proud company, with our organic hemp farm in central Kentucky and our organic facility a little more than an hour away, in Louisville, KY. Check out our social media for pictures of the farm in action!
Our USDA organic CBD oils are made with only two certified organic ingredients: USDA organic Kentucky hemp flower extract and USDA organic MCT coconut oil. That's it.
Absolutely! Cornbread Hemp sends every single batch to be tested by our third party lab testing partner, Kaycha Labs. We never release a batch of CBD oil for sale online, or with our retail partners, until we know for sure that it is 100% free of pesticides, heavy metals, mycotoxins, and microbials, and that the product label is accurate as it relates to CBD content. View our certificate of analysis for each batch at the link above, including our selection of CBD topicals and CBD oil for pets. We never hide our lab reports behind a batch number portal. You have access to our entire library of batch reports from the beginning of our company in 2019 when visiting our lab reports page.
From where tradition meets science™, we use organic sugarcane ethanol, almost like a traditional tincture, with no seeds, stems or leaves included in the process. That means our CBD products have a bright, earthy flavor true to the hemp flower, and they don't have the harsh, bitter aftertaste that many other CBD products contain.
No, never! We believe that cannabis is the world's most important natural remedy, so why would we distort its natural beauty? Our products contain a full spectrum of cannabis phytocannabinoids, minor cannabinoids and terpenes, including up to 0.3% THC.

Hemp CBD Dosing & Timing
It’s different for everybody. There are several factors- your metabolism, your endocannabinoid system, the mode of supplementation (oils vs. gummies vs. capsules vs. topicals), and what your wellness goal is. Some customers feel relief almost instantly, and some require several days or weeks. As with all supplementation and wellness practices, consistency is key and the benefits will build over time.
It is impossible to look at an individual and know their perfect CBD does. It will depend on your reasons for taking CBD and your endocannabinoid system. Most of our customers start with 25mg CBD once a day for a week or so, then increase to twice daily and/or increase to our 50mg or 100mg options, as needed.
Again, it will depend on the individual and their wellness goals, but ultimately the best way to take CBD is the way that you will take it consistently, whether capsules, gummies, sublingual oils, or topically. Each option is better suited for different types of CBD consumers. Most of our customers prefer gummies, but everyone is different, which is why we offer a variety of options.

Hemp CBD Benefits & Reactions
Full spectrum hemp contains phytocannabinoids, like CBD and THC, that naturally communicate with and support your endocannabinoid system, in turn support you in fighting daily stress and discomfort
Psychoactive describes a substance that has an effect on the brain that will elicit changes in mood or behavior. As it works to support you with stress, full spectrum hemp could be considered psychoactive like other non-intoxicating substances, such as coffee and chocolate, and should be considered an adult (18+) supplement.
No! You cannot overdose on full spectrum hemp, and taking too much will not result in any major adverse effects. As someone increases their dose beyond what is needed or takes too much, the most frequent complaints are drowsiness, headaches, and mild stomach discomfort.
Yes! This is very important to know and one of the reasons we believe so strongly in label transparency. As all of our products are full spectrum hemp, you will clearly see the CBD and THC amount per serving on the front of every package. We believe that because hemp-derived cannabinoids are federally legal, including THC as long as it remains under 0.3 percent, employees should no longer face discrimination from employers for testing positive for hemp-derived cannabinoids. However, in 2024, outdated beliefs about THC and cannabis continue to influence workplace drug test policies. If you're concerned about a drug test, have a conversation with your doctor. Ask for your doctor's recommendation in writing, share that with your human resources department, and ask for their written acknowledgement and permission.
Hemp CBD's Legal Status
Yes. CBD was legalized as part of the 2018 Farm Bill passed by Congress and signed by the president. The Farm Bill removed hemp from the list of illegal drugs, so long as the THC level does not exceed 0.3% in dry weight. This refers to the weight of the gummy or oil dropper. All products sold by Cornbread Hemp have been third-party lab tested to ensure compliance with this law.
Yes. The TSA has stated that full spectrum hemp products made legal under the Farm Bill are safe to fly with. You will not get in trouble at airport security for possessing CBD products from Cornbread Hemp.
Yes. It is perfectly legal to send and receive full spectrum hemp products within the United States, in compliance with the Farm Bill of 2018.
Yes. Non-intoxicating full spectrum hemp supplements are for adults, 18+, and intoxicating hemp products are for adults, 21+.
